And…there. I couldn’t wait until Tuesday. It’s done and it’s up.
I need to thank…everyone. Everyone who read this insane little story. Who left feedback. Who made art for it or because of it. Who loved it.
Thank you. All of you.
(I cannot make Tumblr breaks for the life of me, sorry)
I hope the ending is okay. It was always going to end this way, in this manner, with this song and that final line. It’s the ONLY thing that has remained constant in the writing (originally, this WAS supposed to be a crack!fic, much more slapsticky and crazy), and I’ve fought with it, but in the end I think it is right.
The highest compliment I have received while writing this is one I see over and over - “You made me like Holly Holliday.”
That is just…I can’t even. You guys. I knew this fic wasn’t going to be popular because Holly fans are in a minority, but I couldn’t help it. Once the idea wormed into my brain, I couldn’t let it go. Or it couldn’t let me go. Whichever. For saying this, thank you. You are incredible.
Holly and Blaine having some weird friendship should never work, and it doesn’t until you realize she’s 35 going on 17 and he’s 17 going on 35. And then suddenly, oddly, for me at least…it worked. It was so fun to write them. I hope I did remain true to them.
I’d never have been able to finish this without the affection and cheerleading I have received from all of you. I have never once heard a negative word about my story (knock wood!), and that’s incredible. I love all of you.
This began as a writing exercise to shake me out of a writing slump I’d been in for far too long. I have never finished any large writing project and was beginning to think I never would, that I lacked the creativity and discipline for it. This has proven me wrong, so wrong. Over 90,000 words! That people have enjoyed! My God!
This fandom has been so welcoming and I am so grateful. I have other projects planned in future - I’m working on a big one right now, of course, the Velvet Petals epic - so if you’re interested, thank you, that’s awesome. I sometimes do one-shots and I’d like to do a mid-length story and…oh, so many things. And of course, I haven’t completely closed the door on my flagship ‘verse.
But for now…yeah, we’re gonna say good night ‘Miss Holliday Goes To Dalton.’ Good night, and thank you.
